How can I redact several PDFs together?
Choose up to five PDFs and work through them using the document selector. A search phrase stays available across files, but you explicitly mark areas in each document. Build the redacted copies, review every exported page, then download a ZIP containing PDFs and verification reports.
About the Batch PDF Redaction
Work through a small set of PDFs in one local workspace. Keep a search phrase as you switch documents, choose the text runs or image areas to remove in each file, and build verified image-only copies. Every page must be visually reviewed before the ZIP download is enabled. The ZIP includes one PDF and one content-free verification report per document. Limits: five files, 50 MB combined, and 30 pages total. All pages lose selectable text, links, forms, accessibility tags and signatures. No OCR, automatic classification, saved rules, account or server storage.

How to use the Batch Redact tool

Upload PDF files
Select PDF files from your device or drag files into the upload area.

Search and mark content
Search for text and explicitly choose matching runs, or draw rectangles over text and images. Review each marked area in each document.

Apply redactions and verify
Every page becomes an image. The export is reopened and checked for text, hidden document features and opaque black pixels inside marked areas.

Confirm each page looks correct before downloading. The content-free report describes the checks and their limits. Batch downloads include the PDFs and reports together.
Are redaction rules applied automatically?
No. Search suggestions need explicit selection. Different documents can place the same information in different locations, so this workspace does not copy rectangles blindly or decide which information is sensitive. Mark at least one area in every document, and inspect the actual exported pages before downloading.
What are the batch limits?
A batch is limited to five PDFs, 50 MB combined, and 30 pages total. Oversized page dimensions and large raster output can trigger lower limits. Processing is sequential and cancellable. A failed verification prevents the batch from being released; your selections remain available for correction.
What is included in the ZIP?
Each document gets a uniquely numbered redacted PDF and a JSON verification report with check results and an output fingerprint. Original filenames and search terms are excluded. All exported pages are images at 144 DPI, without selectable text, links, forms, accessibility tags or signatures. Review remains necessary; reports are not compliance certificates.
Are my files uploaded when batch PDF redaction?
The batch is processed in this tab without accounts, file uploads or server storage. Clear all files or close the tab to discard it. PDFBase cannot recover an unsaved workspace.
