Which browsers can decode AVIF for this converter?
This tool deliberately uses your browser’s built-in AVIF decoder rather than shipping its own, which keeps the page small but ties support to your browser version. AVIF decoding is available in Chrome 85 and later, current Edge, Firefox 93 and later, and Safari 16.1 and later. If a file refuses to load, updating the browser is normally the entire fix — there is nothing to install and no account to create.
Why is AVIF so much smaller than JPG or PNG?
AVIF stores still images using the AV1 video codec’s intra-frame compression, which is a generation ahead of JPEG’s. That is why websites and newer phone cameras have adopted it and why the same photo can be a fraction of the size. The downside is reach: a lot of desktop software, document systems, and printers have never heard of AVIF, so converting to PDF is usually about making the image openable rather than making it smaller.
How are pages sized when there are no options?
Each page is created at the decoded pixel dimensions of its image, so nothing is scaled, cropped, or padded, and the PDF is a faithful one-page-per-image container. Multiple files are appended in the order you selected them. If you need Letter or A4 pages with margins for printing, convert the AVIF files to JPG or PNG in an image editor first and use those converters, which expose page size and margin settings.
Are my files uploaded when converting AVIF to PDF?
